KW Malbuch – Jean Katambayi Mukendi

KW Malbuch is an ongoing publication series developed by KW Institute for Contemporary Art. Conceived for each exhibition season, the coloring books are distributed free of charge to all children visiting our exhibitions and are also available for purchase in our bookshop.

The first edition of the KW Malbuch Collection features a selection of drawings by Jean Katambayi Mukendi.

Jean Katambayi Mukendi is a Congolese artist whose ideas emerge from engineering, geometry, mathematics, and technology. Spanning drawings, sculptures, and installations, Katambayi’s work is inspired by and often composed of everyday objects, machines, and energy systems. His practice explores questions of power and resources: who controls them, how they are acquired, and how they are distributed.

Jean Katambayi Mukendi's solo exhibition RATIO was on view at KW from 21.02.–10.05.26 and marked the artist's first exhibition in Germany.
